My History

I began my health awareness in 1978 when I injured my arm playing competitive frisbee sports in Michigan. I am quite certain at that time that I had torn my rotator cuff. I spent 3 years going to medical doctors who gave me an examination but didn’t really know what to do other than prescribe pain killers and anti-inflammatories. As a last resort, I went to see Richard Krapf, DC, a chiropractor here in Rochester. He performed a vastly more in-depth examination and consult than what I had been exposed to previously with the medical professionals. He determined that it wasn’t my shoulder alone that was the problem but my upper back and neck and the shoes (Earth Shoes) that I was wearing. I was 27 years old and had some lower back pain, neck stiffness and continued shoulder pain. After 8-9 treatments and 3 years of feeling handicapped I had 90% relief. Returning to the gym and strengthening the shoulder finished the job. That same year (1978) my father came down with diverticulitis. He was only 58 years old and when I saw what he was going through I decided to clean up my life. I became vegetarian for about 5 years and now eat some white meat but mostly focus on an extremely healthy diet.

I now actively engage in long-distance bicycle riding, tennis, golf, running and occasional disc golf. I am a member at Midtown Tennis/Athletic Club and do yoga, weight training and other classes there and play guitar for the NIk and the Nice Guys organization when time permits. I believe in keeping moving until they put you 6 feet under.
